Fab Lab 2020

Fab Lab are a digital fabrication facility providing businesses, schools and hobbyists access to a wide range of fabrication technologies that allow them to change their ideas into new prototypes and products. Users have an opportunity to access state of the art digital tools within a community setting and the addition of the Fab Lab to the area will give a source of innovation, empowerment, education and new business development.

Fab Lab have organised workshops to take place inthroughout the Upper Shannon Erne region (Counties Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and Cavan) and will commence in March 2020. The purpose of the visit and demonstration is to make businesses,  students and teachers aware of the benefits of modern production equipment and design processes and how they can be used for a multitude of tasks in Education, business and recreational applications. This Fab Lab project has been given funding under the competitive Local Enterprise Office fund and USEFE.

The workshops are to encourage the students and the general public to use digital design and digital fabrication (3D printing, 3d scanning, laser cutting, CNC machines etc) to design and make their own products or components and to learn about the production and design  processes.

The fabrication workshop that will take place in The Hive will allows groups, buisnesses or people interested to learn about the hardware and software associated with modern digital manufacturing equipment, and also will be walked through the design process and 3D modelling software required to create your own 3D objects.
